Shiny Patchwork Pictures Workshop
Information & Safety Guidelines
My workshops are designed to be friendly, relaxed and inspiring, giving children the opportunity to explore their creativity, experiment with colour and pattern, and enjoy making something completely their own.
This is a fun, hands-on creative session suitable for all primary-aged children. No previous experience is needed – just bring your imagination and enthusiasm!
What to Expect
During the workshop, children will create their own colourful patchwork picture using a selection of pre-cut, pre-gilded geometric shapes made from recycled leather or vegan leather.
There will be plenty of opportunity to experiment with different shapes, colour combinations and patterns before arranging the pieces inside a hanging frame to create a unique piece of artwork.
Children will use PVA glue to stick their chosen shapes into place. All the fiddly preparation will have been done beforehand, so they can concentrate on the fun part: designing and creating!
Every child will take home their own beautiful, bright and colourful shiny patchwork picture.
It will be possible to make additional framed patchwork pictures at a cost of £5 per picture.
Your Child's Safety
This is a simple, low-risk creative activity. All leather shapes will be pre-cut and pre-gilded before the workshop, so children will not need to use scissors, cutting equipment or specialist tools.
During the workshop, children will be using:
Pre-cut geometric shapes made from leather or vegan leather.
PVA craft glue to secure their designs.
Brushes or spreaders where needed to apply glue.
Hanging frames and other decorative materials.
I'll explain and demonstrate the activity at the beginning of the session and provide guidance and support throughout.
Children are asked to:
Follow instructions and use materials as demonstrated.
Use glue carefully and avoid getting it in their eyes or mouth.
Keep craft materials and small pieces away from their mouths.
Wash their hands after the activity.
Let me know if they need help or spill anything.
Adult Supervision
All children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the workshop.
Adults are responsible for their child's/children's supervision, behaviour and general safety during the session. Although I'll be on hand to demonstrate the activity and provide creative guidance, this is not a drop-off childcare session.
Younger children may need a little extra help with arranging and sticking their designs, so adults are encouraged to get involved and enjoy the creative experience together!
What to Wear
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for a creative activity. Although we're using PVA glue rather than messy paints, there's always the possibility of a little glue finding its way onto clothing!
Medical Information & Accessibility
Please let me know before the workshop if your child has any allergies, sensitivities to adhesives or craft materials, additional support requirements or accessibility needs that may affect their participation.
If your child has any particular requirements, I'll do my best to accommodate these and make sure they can enjoy the activity.
Photography Notice
I may take a few photos during the workshop to capture the fun and creativity and to use in future promotional material. The venue may also take photographs or videos.
If you would prefer your child not to appear in any photographs or videos, that's absolutely fine – please let me know at the beginning of the session.
Age Suitability
This workshop is suitable for children of all primary school ages. Activities are designed to be accessible to a range of ages and abilities, with adult support where needed.
All children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the session.
Illness
If your child is feeling unwell, particularly if they have symptoms of a contagious illness, please do not attend the workshop. Please contact me as soon as possible to discuss your booking.
A Final Note
My aim is to provide a relaxed, welcoming and enjoyable creative experience where children can experiment, explore their ideas and take home something they're really proud of.
I'm looking forward to welcoming you and your little creatives for some shiny, colourful fun!
